Animal Names in Sheikh’s Works
Animals are among the most important elements of Turkish culture and civilization. In this context, animals are mentioned in many works in Turkish literature. In the works of Sheikhi, one of the most important poets of Classical Turkish Literature, a considerable amount of animal names and many social and cultural elements about animals were included, and many analogies were made about animals. In this study, the names of the animals in the "Kharname" and “Khusraw and Shirin" mathnawis and "Diwan" of Sheikhi were determined one by one. The number of times the names of these animals are mentioned in which work is shown by giving couplet numbers. In addition, a sample couplet is given for each different animal name.
