Abstract


The Use of Terza-Rıma During and After The Servet-i Fünûn Period
With the influence of the intellectual movements and literary works in the West, content began to change in Turkish poetry and poets gravitated towards writing on new subjects after the Tanzimat era. In this period, although there was innovation in terms of content, old/classical verse forms continued to be used. Therefore, new subjects were covered with old literary forms. The use of new forms would emerge in the Servet-i Fünûn period. As recorded in literary history, poets began to use Western verse forms such as sonnets, triolets and terza-rima in this period. Mustezad, another verse form in Classical Turkish literature, was readapted as Prosaic Mustezad. This way, the poets continued their search for innovation. In the present study, it is aimed to discuss and evaluate the use of terza-rima, the first examples of which were observed in the Servet-i Fünûn period, in Turkish literature. For a healthy evaluation, the study will be limited to the time period from early Servet-i Fünûn to the end of the Second Constitutional Era.
