Abstract


Contribution of Benefactors to Education: Example of Kayseri Province
The basic characteristics of the Turkish nation, such as being benevolent and benefactor, have continued from past to present as a reflection of the understanding of helping others. Having the understanding of social responsibility, benefactors have opened schools and have given scholarships to students in the field of education. After the Republic was declared, studies were carried out in the field of education, even if there were economic difficulties in the country, and the people collected money through voluntary activities and built schools in the villages without school. It was because of the fact that it was aimed to disseminate the education to all levels of society by preventing children from being deprived of the culture of the Republic and the reforms. We see one of the most beautiful examples of these activities in the people of Kayseri. Kayseri benefactors supported the development of education in a way that constituted an example to other provinces in order to ensure the children not to stay away from education and to raise educated young generations who were adopted the Republican regime.
