Abstract


Damietta Siege of the Crusader-Byzantine Allied Army (1169)
In this article, the siege of the city of Damiette by the Crusader-Byzantine allied armies in 1169 has been mentioned. In the campaign realized with great hopes, Selâhaddîn Eyyûbî who carried out a successful with the support of Nûreddîn Mahmûd Zengî and all the opportunities of the Fâtimids, sent the Crusaders empty-handed from Egypt, increased his impact over the Fatimids after this victory. The failure of the campaign, however, led to the deepening of the hostility between the Crusaders and the Byzantines blaming each other.
