Istanbul Women’s Jewelry in XVI. and XVII. Century
It is seen that women In the Ottoman society have private ownership of movable property or real estate.In court registers, it is possible to find records of women's private property such as registration, estate, pledge, testament.As the result of these cases the assets of women are determined.Regarding this issue , more than hundred court registration have been examined. The obtained data are presented in table form. It is seen that the woman who lives in Istanbul in the XVI.th and XVII.th century used much jewelry such as bracelet, earring, crest, ring, belt, belt, incelik, halal which are decorated with precious stones such as gold, silver and diamond, rubies, emeralds and similar precious stones. The mentioned jewelryor some of the precious stones that came out of women's heritage had been given weight and value but many of them hadn’t been recorded.In this study, The percentage of value recorded jewels had been done by regarding the total amount of inherited jewelry . In this study, The free Ottoman women's jewelry in theirown property was tried tobe identified.
