In The Context of Intertextuality Nazan Bekiroğlu’s Name Is Between the Name and Fire
Nazan Bekiroğlu is author of a master of modern Turkish novels and narration. Bekiroğlu’s works are rich enough to be read from different angles. Intertextuality is just one of the angles. On the other hand in recent years intertextuality has become a method. Intertextuality is the basis of postmodernism it is a text analysis method which developed such a linguists like J. Kristeva, M. Riffaterre, R. Barthes, G. Genette. In this study, Bekiroğlu’s novel named Between Fire and Name was examined in the context of intertextual relations. Historical references of the novel have been tried to be identified. As a result of the evaluations carried out for this purpose, it can be stated that while the periods of the Pause and Decline of the Ottoman State are presented with the viewpoint of the individual on the one hand, the effect of the fiction and Bekiroğlu’s discourse is felt in the Between Fire and Name. The work has an important place in the last period of Turkish novelty as it reflects the events that took place in the period in a very loud fictional manner.
