Abstract


Ali Bey Husseinzadeh “The Father of Turkism”
In the paper is considered the lecture “Turks in the two West epics”, made by a prominent representative of the Azerbaijani public thought of the XX century, the "father of Turkish Studies", famous writer, journalist, educator, artist romantic poet Ali bey Husseinzadeh (1864-1940) at the I Turkic Study Congress, carried out in Baku in 1926. This lecture at the time aroused great interest, in the same year was published as a book and presented to the public.The report “Turks in two poems of the West” is devoted to issues related to the Turks in the works “Lusiads” of the Portuguese poet Camoes, and “Liberated Jerusalem” of the Italian poet T.Tasso. In fact, this work is an allegory denouncing the occupation of Azerbaijan by Soviet Russia and the fall of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1920.
