Abstract


MOLIÈRE INFLUENCE ON FERÂİZCİZÂDE MEHMED ŞAKİR’S PIECES İNÂDCI YÂHÛD ÇÖPÇATAN AND EVHÂMÎ
Molière on the head of the writers whose works are mostly adapted and translated in our history of theatre. French writer’s pieces were translated so many times by different people and these translations became an inspiration center for our writers. The literary writers after Tanzimat evaluate theatre works as a chair. This chair which was used for explaining social ideas came along under the shadow of literary translations. Preference of comedy translations more than other works can be explained this genre’s special qualifications. Ferâizcizâde Mehmed Şakir is one of the rare examples of his precedents by achieving to be original. Writer’s pieces which are published under “Menâzirü’l Letâif” title are important for our history of literature by their original aspects. We can see clearly Molière influence on his pieces which are consequences of the literary practices by the years passed in Bursa. In this article subsequent to a chronologic reading on Molière’s theatre in Ottoman geography, we will focus on the reasons why comedy preferred. We will try to enlighten the reasons which manipulated Ferâizcizâde Mehmed Şakir to theatre and determine Molière influence on his pieces by these evaluations.
